Both permanent wildland firefighters and emergency firefighters are now required by  to complete the IS-700 course (Intro to the National Incident Management System) to obtain their 2013 Red Cards.

EFF firefighters are encouraged to IS-700 online and take the certificate of completion to the firefighter refresher training or fax it to the local area office so that it can be kept for records. Firefighters without internet access should contact their local Forestry office for the dates in-person courses.
